I had a great time at the shows in San Antonio and Austin. San Antonio really stood out to me, the crowd was electric, so much energy, singing, sweating, dancing.
The world came crashing down after that. Found out a close friend took his own life. Just dealing with waves of sorrow right now. Music is a comfort and honestly a source of sadness as well, since he loved music as much as I do.
Sorry to hear that. There is no easy way to reconcile that type of loss or exit. I default ti hoping they are away from pain. Thank you for being at the shows.
Missed your writing so much! Really happy to read you again and even more happy that you enjoyed the first part of the tour 🖤 Hope the next part will be even better! Thank you for the photos, they are awesome.
I'm the embodiment of executive dysfunction right now, but the beginning of autumn was great thanks to you. I had ticket, hotel and a bus to Sweden booked for Dalhalla show before you canceled it, but I didn't know if I could afford tickets back until the day before departure due to the delay of payment from my shitjob. It turned out I could, so I kinda reluctantly booked a flight back and kinda reluctantly went there and damn I didn't know how much I needed this trip until I was on the road. I forgot there's a ferry between Germnay and Denmark and didn't realize how much I missed being in the open sea. It made me so happy and felt like home. Also visiting Sweden was my dream and I've fallen in love with Stockholm from the first sight. They make such good coffee there. Two women who gave me a ride to Dalhalla were amazing company and I think you have at least one new fan. Kite were extraordinary live, Dalhalla is the most fantastic venue I've ever been to, hope you will still play it one day, it's worth it. This trip wouldn't have been possible if you hadn't announced your show there. I love Kite, but would have considered it too expensive if it weren't about Cold Cave playing. So thank you for making my life better even indirectly 🖤
Yes, I totally understand, no grudges or anything. Just hope you'll play Dalhalla one day, it would be so awesome to see and hear you there. The acoustic is amazing.
So grateful for the shows in Houston and Austin. Apologies for my terrible voice as I screamed along to every word at the front of the stage. Glad you are all safe. We broke down between Houston and Dallas last year headed to an art show. Spent the night in the car sleeping with one eye open in a Love's parking lot. Towed to Innes next morning for an evening worse sleep in a hotel. Still mentally scarred from that trip.
How am I? Sitting and waiting for CC to return to Nashville. Can’t remember the year, but I do remember it was with Drab Majesty at Exit/In and it was great. I just returned from NYC, where I got someone incredible books and records of Morrissey and Dylan Thomas. It was magical. Hope to see yall in 2024.
Exit in is still doing shows. It’s like 500 cap. There is also Eastside Bowl which is like 750. Brooklyn Bowl which is 1000? Marathon music works is 1000. Drkmttr Collective is the DIY punk spot which like 150ish. The End which is like 250. That’s super shitty punk club vibes. The Basement is like 100-150, low ceilings, lots of up and coming indie bands play there. Same people own Basement East which is 500 cap or so. I’m partial to Drkmttr, just for the intimacy of the space. No stage, fully DIY, inclusive spot, but I like shithole venues. I’m sure the experience is music different for the artist. Basement East seems to be the most popular spot for bands of CC size to play. Relatively new venue (2018?), so I’m sure the amenities are the best.
OH I forgot about The East Room. I feel crazy! That might be the best one honestly. They have Goth nights. Probably like 300-350 cap and an indie venue.
Still reminiscing about how great the shows were. Some of the highlights of my year. Looking forward to hearing how the rest of tour goes and more stories about your morning coffee. :)
the best months are here! 🩶 rainer sold my girlfriend a ton of merch in nyc, she said she couldn’t say no. and said he was very sweet and helpful! hope the rest of the tour goes smoothly.

Things are very dark here at the moment and I've decided to lean into it.
Your words are a gift. And the photos, a solace.

It's been too long. What's a good venue for CC there now?

Take it cold in the winter.

Ha thank you. I’ve spent the last 7 yrs trying to say no to him and haven’t found a way. All the best…
October is going to be amazing.
This I hope is true.
Happy to hear it... keep crushing also
