SAN FRANCISCO - JANUARY 13, 2022

I’m going to share a draft of a book I’ve been working on called Shoplifting In A Ghost Town over a series of posts. It’s formatted as a journal from American Nightmare’s January 2022 “Background Music” 20th year anniversary tour which naturally coincided with peak Coronavirus Omicron breakout… but that format was just an easy guide to write in and out of cities and memories. It’s broken up into eight chapters which was the scheduled itinerary of the shows… Boston, NYC, Asbury Park, Philly, San Francisco, Los Angles, Santa Ana and San Diego. Homecoming cut short. Still testing negative but didn’t want to risk getting my family sick, so Masek and I leave LA and head to SF ahead of schedule. We get the van and then go to SIR and load it full of gear in delirium. Stop at Amoeba in Hollywood on the way out and copped some CD’s for the ride with the idea being that we can only listen to these select CD’s for the entire West Coast trip:
